The North East Pennsylvania Pocono area has a wealth of agriculture, produce, stock, etc. Local farmers are the backbone of our country, providing the sustenance, food and nutrition we need to survive. Without local farmers to grow our food, we would have to depend on foreign countries and hope that they don't decide to cut off our food supplies, or risk foreign countries adding chemicals to our foods that cause ill health or poisoning.
Our support of the local farmer, not the large corporate farms, puts more money into local sustainable agriculture, and into our economy because farmers then visit our local businesses and farming equipment stores.
Large corporations try to buy up local farm land every day, putting local farmers out of business. Due to corporation friendly laws and rising taxes, the local farmer is forced to sell land that has been in their families for generations.
